Happy Valentine's Day 2022

​“The Monday, August 15, 1966 bulletin read, “7:30 pm Unprogrammed Worship Service.” I was fifteen at the time. I only went because my girlfriend went. I went to be with her. She went because the church youth group she occasionally attended invited her. She thought it would be fun. Right at the one-hour mark, 8:30 pm, the moderator, who seemed anxious, stood, and abruptly gave a prayer of benediction to end this event and its content. However, immediately upon the moderator’s intended and conclusive “Amen,” a crippled elderly man, a layman, and businessman, Charles Pitts, stood and spoke. He invited anyone who needed to pray to join him. 
I, along with others, sensed a great Presence of the Lord. All over the auditorium, people knelt at chairs and openly wept prayers of apology to God while others who experienced the victory of forgiveness sang with open, passionate joy. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced. I had lost contact with my girlfriend, Carol Addison, who is now my wife, when I went to pray with Mr. Pitts. Suddenly, there she was in front of me. She had a big smile on her face, which was wet with tears. She informed me that she had prayed with her pastor to receive Jesus Christ as her Savior. I put my arm around Carol’s shoulder as we stood in this singing crowd on the gymnasium floor. As we sang, I looked up into the rafters and sensed God speaking to my mind and heard, “I have called you to preach the Gospel, will you do it?” With great joy and feeling honored, I told Him I would. –Gary Wright, in “He Just Showed up!” (chapter 3)
