In 2016, World Renewal began working with the Rangi community in Tanzania, which for decades has suffered prejudice due to extreme poverty. At 98% Muslim and .5% Evangelical Christian, they are considered an unreached people group. Brick by brick, the Mwanzo Mpya Foundation (MMF) was built. Mwanzo Mpya, is translated "Genesis," and is a Christian non-profit organization.
Cloud (who is from the Rangi tribe) and Dina Roman lead MMF. They are native Tanzanians and were married on July 26, 2011, after meeting at a seminary where they both attended to prepare for full-time ministry. They have three daughters, Nancy, Abby, and Nayeli. Cloud has previously worked with other Christian organizations in Bible Translations, educational institutions, and church planting and is now partnered with World Renewal. Drew Fitzpatrick is their country representative, and often leads trips down to visit. MMF focuses on bringing about socio-economic and spiritual transformation. One of its key projects is the Mwanzo Mpya Academy (MMA), an educational institution that provides quality schooling to local children, with a vision to equip the next generation and foster a better future for the community. They also have a health center and a well to provide for quality health services to the community. The core of MMF is "Transformation" as they serve the unreached Rangi people. Immediate NeedsThe Mwanzo Mpya Academy aims to provide quality education to a community that has historically faced challenges due to extreme poverty. The school, which includes a preschool, kindergarten (opened in 2022), and a grade school (2025) is dedicated to helping the next generation grow. Immediate needs are for child sponsorship partners who would commit to supporting these children for $40 a month.
Each year the school hopes to add a grade, growing with the students. This is the only grade school in the area (the children had to go to boarding school otherwise), and the only Christian grade school in all of the Rangi community! |
