Caruaru is our NEWEST Living Stones!Cesario Monteiro was one of the first converts at the Community Church of Carpina when the ministry first started over 30 years ago. Unfortunately, he walked away from the church and the Christian life for many years. In 2023, God worked miracles, drawing Cesario back to himself, along with his wife, Cida, and their son, Julio. Through door-to-door evangelism around their home in Caruaru (about 2.5 hours from WRB headquarters in Carpina), people began to give their lives to Christ, and a small group began. After they became members of Feira Nova Community Church, under the supervision of Pastor Ricardo Silva they began the Community Church of Caruaru in August 2024. In March 2024, Pastor Philip from the Pinheiropoles Baptist Church invited the Monteiro family to also be missionaries with the Baptist Church in Serrote dos Bois (a rural area of Caruaru). So now, even though they have little financial support, they are dividing their time between establishing the Community Church in Caruaru and working at the Baptist Church in Serrote dos Bois.
After getting to know their own home community and the rural community nearby, the Monteiro family felt the desire and saw the need to start a Living Stones program to serve the children in these communities. These are very needy children, many of them with fathers who deal in drugs, mothers who live in prostitution, and homes destroyed by alcohol. Without any financial help (yet), they began Living Stones by faith. They opened the doors of their home to provide Love, Education, Nutrition and Direction (LEND) to Jesus to the children in their neighborhood. They serve a total of 32 children from their neighborhood and from rural areas. Please pray for the salvation of these children, for the Monteiro family, and for resources to continue the newest Living Stones program with World Renewal Brazil. Living Stones is the only child sponsorship program that is church planting THROUGH child sponsorship. Because Living Stones is a part of World Renewal Brazil, which has a church planting focus, it is never JUST about child sponsorship. We know many children will come for the food, fun, education, or support and care, but there will be those that find a home and family and decide to become the next generation of leaders that reaches out to their communities: and to the world. With World Renewal you are sponsoring children: not a child. 90% of the money you give goes directly to the church to use for the children in their community.
